Who are we looking for ?
CTTC is searching for one interested candidate to work as research engineer in networked cloud research topics in the SaS research unit: https://www.cttc.cat/services-as-networks-sas/.
The successful candidate will be an integral part of the SaS research unit. The selected candidate will actively engage in cutting-edge research and collaborate in a project related to 6G mobile networks.
What do we offer? :
- We offer an indefinite contract of scientific technical activities linked to the research project. Once this project and/or its funds will finish, you will join other projects in the same research line, subject to budget availability.
- Annual gross salary according to the profile of the candidate
- Full-time contract: 7,5 h/day. Flexibility
- Expected professional category: R1/R2.
- Exceptional candidates may be considered even if they do not meet all the requirements. In this case the professional category will be based on the qualifications and experience of the applicant according with CTTC professional categories procedure (https://www.cttc.cat/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/Update-professional-categories.pdf).
- Tenure track: Career progression with possibility of stabilization trough a permanent structural contract
- Prospect start date: March 2025

Qualifications and Experience
We are looking for a highly motivated, enthusiastic, energetic person, aiming at significantly improving his or her career perspectives in both public and private sectors.

Required qualification/skills/ experience:
- BSc degree in Telecommunications, Electronic Engineering, Computer Science or a closely related field (20 points)
- Programming knowledge (10 points)
- Cloud and/or networking knowledge (10 points)
- Strong oral and written English communication skills (5 points)
- Other skills that are valuable, but not mandatory are:
- MSc degree in Telecommunications, Electronic Engineering, Computer Science or a closely related field (10 points)
- PhD in Telecommunications, Electronic Engineering, Computer Science or a closely related field (or equivalent number of years of expertise) (10 points)
- Optimization algorithms, including use of AI. (20 points)
- Understanding of technologies and practical knowledge (implementation, deployment, experimentation) of the tools used in the networking testbeds, particularly those derived from open source projects. These may include: (20 points)
- Programmable and Virtual networking (e.g., SDN, NFV, MEC, Prometheus)
- Cloud services, virtualization, and related tools (Docker, Virtual machines, OpenStack, k8s)
- Mobile networks (incl. 4G, and ideally, 5G) (e.g., srsRAN, open5GS, openAirInterface)
- Linux operating system (at least administrator-level, ideally kernel-level knowledge)
- Programming and data representation skills and related tools (Python, YAML, JSON, …) (10 points)
- Experience from participating in national and/or international research projects with partners from academia and industry and basic experience in preparation of research grant proposals for funding agencies, e.g., EC H2020 (10 points)
